Ideal location next to the Sevilla Metro station in Central Madrid, and restaurants, nightlife, I felt safe. There was Restaurante Gigi around 4-6 minutes away by foot from the hotel...

I stayed for 4 nights as part of a family trip to explore Madrid. The location was perfect, just a short walk to local attractions like the Royal Palace and Plaza Mayor. I appreciated the cleanliness of the room and the fact that towels were replaced daily. There were points of noise from the reception area that sometimes disturbed the peace, and I wished there had been more blankets available as I found myself a bit cold at night.

It is very clean. Owner is friendly and helpful. It is budget friendly. Rooms cleaned daily. Free wifi. Owner helped carry luggages up.
On 3rd floor and no elevator. Entrance hard to find at night. Had to circle the block a few time before figuring out where the front door is. It is a big and tall green wooden door at is locked from the inside. Just wait for someone to come through then you can go in Bring your own hair dryer.

Clean and tidy rooms with helpful staff assistance.
The entrance was difficult to locate. It blends in with the building, and upon arriving, I had to ring the bell before anyone came to assist. The rooms had mediocre sound insulation. I also found that the lack of a kettle or coffee-making facilities was a disappointing oversight, especially .

Our room was relatively small, but a good enough size for a couple, and spotless clean. I loved the shiny marble floor. There was wifi as well as a desktop computer in the room, which turned out to be useful. The bathroom was brand new and towels were changed daily. It was also very warm considering the freeezing December weather while we were there. The hotel host was very friendly and helpful, and his English was good enough to communicate without any problems. The hostal is on the 2nd & 3rd floor of a rather beautiful old typical Madrid building with a wooden spiral staircase inside. We were given keys to get in and out independently so it was as if we had our own home in Madrid. It is also very central, so we hardly used the metro to see the city, even though a station is nearby (Tribunal). All this, at a very good price!
Only minor comment: a coat hanger in the room would have been handy!

Jose, the owner, was most welcoming and offered plenty of useful advice about nearby bars & restaurants. He made it clear that he was available 24x7, if any problems arose, and he checked regularly that everything was OK with me/my room. My room was spotlessly clean and serviced every day, and the hotel is well located for a city visit to Madrid. Excellent value for money.
I have no criticisms of Hostal Benemar.

The location was convenient, just a short walk to popular attractions like the Royal Palace and Plaza Mayor, making it easy to explore the city.
I found the sound insulation in my room to be subpar, as I could hear noise from the reception area during late hours.

The hostel is an optically pleasant multistory building located in a quite street in the central part of Madrid, a few minutes from the Gran Via and the Plaza Puerta del Sol, and very conveniently close to a Metro station. The rooms and the floors are simple but very clean. Most importantly, the entire hostel was COMPLETELY SMOKING-FREE - an important condition which still cannot be taken for granted in nowadays Spain, despite the strict smoking ban already in place. The host (a staunch non-smoker) of Benamar was not only extremely professional but very helpful in trying to meet the special requirements of his guests - plus he is very nice and respectful on a personal level. My experience with this hostel was extremely positive, exceeding my expectations (and believe me, I am usually very critical and skeptic). The prices for the rooms are fair.
I cannot complain about anything.

Central hub with charming service
The host was cute and took the time to recommend nearby attractions. The location was perfect for exploring Madrid!
The lack of a visible entrance was confusing initially, and the noise from the reception area could be disruptive during late hours.

The location was very good, next to the two lively barrio's Malasana and Chueca. The room was comfortable and clean. Not a lot of space or other facilities, but we didn't need them.
You can hear a lot from other rooms, so if you don't go into the nightlife of Madrid, you might wake up when other guests come home. For us this was not problem at all.
